Solartech Indonesia is one of the most important and influential solar technology exhibition events in Indonesia and the whole Southeast Asia region. The annual exhibition provides a platform for international and local solar industry related companies to showcase the latest technologies, products and solutions, while promoting cooperation and exchange within the industry.
Indonesia, located in Southeast Asia, is geographically located in the tropical region, very close to the equator, Indonesia’s solar radiation resources average about 4.8KWh/m2/ day. In 2022 Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has passed a new decree (Ministerial Decree 49/2018) that allows owners of residential, commercial and industrial rooftop photovoltaic systems to sell excess power to the grid under a net metering scheme. The government hopes the new regulations will bring about 1GW of new PV capacity to Indonesia over the next three years and reduce energy bills for PV system owners by 30%. The government said the new rules would benefit photovoltaic facilities with a high percentage of self-consumption, and only a very low amount of electricity would be sold to utilities.Indonesia aims to add 4.7 GW of solar capacity by 2030 under its new Power Procurement Plan (RUPTL), which will boost the contribution of renewables to the mix.
